Black Toilet Brushes
White toilet brushes get stained fast within one or two cleanings they become gross and unsightly. Black toilet brushes keep their appearance for much longer. Small things help to keep your short term rental bathroom looking and feeling clean.
Memory Foam Mattresses
Make sure to get 12" or more for it to be comfortable. In my opinion at these price points you're better off buying comfortable memory foam mattress and replacing them more frequently than buying a more expensive mattress and using it for longer.
Buy 1 size larger for bed. Colors are okay here and may be preferred depending on your design.
Beckham Hotel Collection Gel Pillow
These pillows feel fuller and have held up better than all of the the other pillows we've bought.
We've received many compliments on these sheets. These sheets are a good price, dry fast, and feel great. One downside is that they may not last as long as other products. These sheets can help the cleaning of your rental go faster. It's helpful to get all queen sheets with no texture and a different texture for kings, doubles and twins.
It's helpful to have extra blankets to keep in the closet in case guests need additional warmth.
Mattress Protectors are a must. Stains happen, and you don't want these stains to affect the mattress. These can be swapped out as needed and most of the time washed and help your vacation rental feel new.
Don't buy a black or a white couch. These tend to stain really fast. You may want to consider not having removable pillows on the couch. We recommend opting for a trundle bed, floor mattress, or air-mattress instead of having couch with a hide-a-bed. The guest end up sleeping better on a mattress and hide-a-beds are harder to work with and sometimes get forgotten.
In this day and age it's a huge benefit to be able to work from your rental. Internet capable of remote work is becoming more and more desired.
We recommend anything in the range of 40 inches. Built in smart TV's are a plus. Don't use the chrome-cast or fire-sticks these will end up getting lost. We also recommend mounting the larger TV's to a wall. We think this ends up looking nicer and could prevent accidents from happening.
We had the best luck with Costco towels for the prices. Amazon basic also have some options that we've used in the past. Also, we have found it helpful to buy black or dark towels that say makeup towel on them. This helps prevent a lot of your white towels from getting makeup stains and causing extra hassle.
We've gotten the best results out of Schlage or Yale. The best battery life seem be in the deadbolt only locks. The point is to minimize the potential to lose keys and increase the ease of check in. Codes can be changed quickly and easily if a bad situation arises.
Back Up Key Vault
We want to always have a back up for the guest in case of battery failure. Key's in a key vault should be used as a fail-safe. We've rarely had to use them but they're a lifesaver when they are needed.
Desk For Remote Workers
We're seeing an uptick in people remotely working. A spot for them to lay out their laptop can be helpfull in tapping into this trend.
Many of our places have hard water. We use products to remedy it, but will still sometimes get hard-water spots. White corelle type dishes seem to do better.
Dishes For Kids
It is helpful to have plastic plates, cups, and utensils for those guests that brig their children.
Pack 'n Play
It can be a benefit for those guests traveling with infants. Now they don't have to haul around their own during their vacation.
Shower Curtain Liners
Replacements or washable needed for places with hard water. Hard water will often leave stains on curtain liners after about 3 weeks.
Being outside can be rough on towels it might be worth having different colors or sets to use at the pool.
Madison Park coverlets
Seem to hold up well and provide a nice finish if you prefer that over a comforter.
Fitted Sheet for Box Springs
It is easier to make the beds if you choose to do a fitted sheet for your box springs rather than a bed skirt.
These can refresh old pillows and can extend the life of your pillows in your vacation rental. There's nothing worse than pulling the pillow case off and finding a stained pillow. These can be added as needed.
We know they look nice, but can definitely cause stray fuzz on furniture that may cause guest to view it as unclean. They also collect food and if sticky fingers get a hold of them you can also see how there would be an issue.
Black or White Furniture
Other than white linens any furniture, rugs etc that are completely white or black will most likely be ruined very quickly.
They can be really hard to replace and don't seem to hold up you're better off buying 2 comforters and swapping them out during a wash.
Bunk beds can be hard to clean and can cause a hassle we sometimes worry as they seem to get more wobbly over time. In my opinion you're better off going with a trundle bed.
Hide a Bed and Futon
Guests sleep so much better on a trundle bed, floor mattress, or air mattress.
